BLACK OPAL

Black opal is a variety of opal that shares the same chemical composition and characteristics as all opals. It has the characteristic of having a dark body tone which can range from dark grey to jet black. Almost all black opal comes from Australia, but other locations source the gem, too. Black opal’s striking color combinations and patterns make it one of the most highly valued types of opal that exists.
